What is cosmeceutical ingredients?

Cosmeceuticals refers to the combination of cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.

Cosmeceuticals are cosmetic products with biologically active ingredients purporting to have medical or drug-like benefits. Cosmeceuticals are topical creams and lotions designed to improve the appearance of aging skin. Specially, Regeron have focused to develop a series of cosmeceutical peptides/proteins among these active ingredients.

One group of active ingredients that have enjoyed tremendous longevity are proteins and their derivatives. Proteins are particularly popular because they provide a tremendous variety of functions important to moisturisers, anti-aging cosmeceuticals, and hair conditioners. The cosmeceutical protein are small molecules that serve as communication transmitters between cells.

Typically, they signal cells to either up regulate or down regulate certain metabolic processes. They bind to receptors and trigger a conformational change in their structure. The rationale for the incorporation of these molecules into cosmeceutical products is that they trigger the epidermis to respond to more youthful signals and thus, a more youthful appearance.

The cosmeceutical proteins are a family of proteins have a ability  to increase skin cell proliferation and fibroblast production of collagen/elastin in human skin.  They are able to regulate the homeostasis of skin stem cell growth and death.  The skin stem cell is very important to regulate skin life cycle.

Regeron is the pioneer contributor of scientific rationales and validations for protein cosmeceuticals in the fields and the world-first developer of cosmetic GH subfamily proteins (human growth hormone, prolactin, and placental lactogen) and discoverer of their authentic cosmeceutical efficacies.

Additional proteins with novel cosmeceutical attributes are in our products pipeline.
